Rita's husband is a minister and they have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. She is a retired school administrator for the Indianapolis Public Schools System. In her spare time, she enjoys playing spider solitaire on her computer.
Rita is a past Director for Women's Division (2000-2008) and has held several UMW offices in her local church. She chairs the Indiana Conference Mission Resource Team and will serve as delegate to the 2012 General and Jurisdictional Conferences. She has held UMW offices at the Conference level including President, Dean/Assistant Dean of the School of Christian Mission, and Social Action Mission Coordinator. Rita served as Dean and Assistant Dean of Midwest Regional School and as a member of the North Central Jurisdiction Committee on Nominations. She is currently serving her second quadrennial as Director of the General Board of Global Ministries.
She has been working with another member in her conference on human trafficking. "I saw the announcement for this trip and immediately realized that this would broaden my knowledge of human trafficking. It could assist me in sharing with others the scope and magnitude of human trafficking in light of the Super Bowl being held in Indianapolis in 2012."
